JOB DESCRIPTION FirstEnergy About the Opportunity This is an open position at Fort Martin Power Station with Mon Power a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [MP] The Electrical Engineer will report to the Manager of Technical Services and is responsible for monitoring the condition of the generation electrical equipment while providing both operational and maintenance support. Equipment includes generator, exciter, precipitator controls, motors, transformers, switchgear, motor control centers, protective relays and other related electrical equipment. Responsibilities include: Recognizing risks and taking precautions and preventative measures to ensure a safe work environment for others and self. - Investigating and resolving any system malfunctions and conducting root cause analysis on related derates and forced outages. Developing graphic displays, analyzing control issues using available diagnostic tools and features. Serving as station contact/coordinator for NERC compliance, Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP), alarm management and testing of station protective devices. Advising and assisting the technician level employees with the configuration, programming and troubleshooting as required. Assisting with development of the technicians by personal oversight and by recommending appropriate training opportunities. Taking the lead on all upgrad es (DCS, PLC, flame scanners, etc.) and system improvements to resolve operation and maintenance issues with control systems including development of system replacement specifications and performance requirements, testing, training and documentation control. Assessing operating condition and developing plans for continued health and operation including technical direction of repairs, evaluation of improvements and development of short- and longterm budgets. Assisting with solving operational issues that can be addressed with proper planning and execution of planned work and/or projects to correct inefficiencies. Preparing financial justifications, budgeting, schedule performance and documentation of projects. Coordinating activities of other technical services personnel that may be assigned for the purpose of routine, project and emergency issues and across all technical disciplines and will represent and report on issues for the assigned area . Conducting research and beginning to improve work processes, analyze data and begin to develop and recommend solutions, anticipate needs and accept ownership, contribute to solutions and possess job knowledge and maturity. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited school is required. Electrical Engineering is strongly preferred; other engineering disciplines will be considered. Electronic(s) Engineering Technology degree requires a PE license to meet position requirements. Minimum of 3 years' engineering experience is required. Demonstrated proficiency in the DCS and PLC areas. Demonstrated proficiency in programming and configuring logic. Familiar with networks and network protocols and security issues including all requirements of NERC CIP standards as well as other standards such as NFPA. Knowledge of applicable electrical codes and relevant standards, such as NFPA, as they relate to plant operations and maintenance is a plus.
