POSITION DESCRIPTION

Role / Position Title - Associate Manager, Transportation and Analytics

Department/Function - Operations

Country - USA

Region / City (within Country) - Mahwah, NJ

FLSA (Exempt/Non-Exempt) - Exempt

Hours - 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in office 3-5 days per week

POSITION SUMMARY

The Associate Transportation Manager is responsible for coordinating and managing all transportation related functions with goal to effectively track US Commercial shipments from pick-up to final delivery. This role will have an overall understanding and responsibility to manage Full Truckload (FTL), Less-than-truckload (LTL) and small parcel carriers and freight spend. The Associate Transportation Manager will provide management and oversight of transportation carriers to ensure freight meets customer appointments, compliance with regulations and on-time delivery requirements.

A key responsibility will be to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop effective transportation strategies and optimize logistics operations.

OVERALL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify and execute transportation strategies to deliver products to customers efficiently and on-time.

  • Manage carrier relationships, assist in carrier contract agreements and negotiate with carriers to secure competitive rates, terms and conditions.

  • Collaborate with Freight Audit Company to track and approve exception invoices.

  • Work closely with internal departments (warehousing, customer service, finance) to provide transportation related information (transit time, shipment status, proof of deliveries, estimated shipment cost, etc.)

  • Stays informed about shipment transit times, collaborates with warehouse operations to consolidate customer orders for efficiency, delivery requirements and costs.

  • Manage KPI metrics measuring on-time delivery, damages, cost, and performance to identify areas of improvement and implement corrective actions.

  • Coordinate and assist Glenmark finance team with freight invoice payments.

  • Address transportation-related issues (delays, delivery requirements, tracking, etc.) in coordination with the warehouse shipping department.

  • Coordinates disposition of returns with customers, partners and internal stakeholders.

  • Coordinates with Director of Distribution, Inventory control and various internal teams to ensure product flow and safety.

  • Act as operations liaison for various change initiatives that impact systems and processes within Distribution and Logistics.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Education

  • Bachelor-s degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.

Experience

  • Proven experience working in transportation management or similar role.

  • Hands on experience in WM environment routing shipments based on mode and destination

Knowledge and Skills (Functional / Technical)

  • Working knowledge of cold chain distribution and pharmaceutical distribution concepts (GDP, GXP)

  • Knowledge of FDA, cGMP and other regulatory requirements.

  • Knowledge of transportation industry and industry best practices.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Experience in analytics and problem-solving with ability to work in a fast-changing environment.

  • Exceptional communication skills to collaborate with internal stakeholders, carriers, and customers.

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work within a diverse team environment.

  • Proficiency in MS Office suite.

  • The incumbent typically works in an office environment and uses a computer, telephone and other office equipment as needed to perform duties.

  • The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office

  • Incumbent may encounter frequent interruptions throughout the work day.

  • The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear; frequently required to use repetitive hand motion, handle or feel, and to stand, walk, reach, bend or lift up to 20 pounds
