JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: The Waisman Center is dedicated to the advancement of knowledge about human development, developmental disabilities, and neurodegenerative diseases throughout the lifespan. One of 15 centers of its kind in the United States, the Waisman Center encompasses laboratories for biomedical and behavioral research, several scientific research cores, and a clinical biomanufacturing facility for the production of pharmaceuticals for early stage human clinical trials. In addition to its research efforts, the Center provides an array of services to people with developmental disabilities, offers numerous educational and outreach programs to young children and their families, and trains scientists and clinicians who will serve our nation in the future. The Peer Support Navigator will be an active member of a multi-disciplinary team that provides peer support services to participants enrolled in the Healthy Brain and Child Development (HBCD) study (PIs: Douglas Dean and Julie Poehlmann). This position will be involved in the recruitment and scheduling of participants and provide participants with individualized, ongoing guidance, and support in completing study requirements. They will develop a participant advocate relationship through sharing of similar lived experience, that will support and help guide the participant through study requirements. They will also help identify community resources pertinent to each participant and assist in navigating the use of those resources. The Peer Support Navigator will assist in developing formal and informal community support according to participants identified needs to complete study requirements and be responsible for understanding participant rights and observe all rules of confidentiality relating to clinical information and treatment, both internally and when dealing with external agencies and/or individuals.
