14326BRDepartment Name:HSP Pharmacy Operations Location:Meriter Hospital Job Description: The Pharmacy Intern at UnityPoint Health Meriter Hospital will staff inpatient (central) pharmacy, ambulatory (outpatient) pharmacy, and/or complete medication reconciliations (transitions of care) in an intern capacity. They will perform a variety of distributive tasks to ensure safe and efficient filling of patients' prescriptions and replenishment of medications throughout the hospital. The intern will perform clinical and administrative tasks to coordinate the medication related aspects of a patient's transition through their hospital stay. This will include fixing medication related problems including enrolling patients to fill at Meriter Outpatient Pharmacy, performing medication reconciliation, completing chart review, and counseling patients on their medications.
The intern will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist prior to graduation.

Minimum Requirements:
Must meet all current state requirements as defined in Chapter Phar 17 to be classified as a pharmacy intern, including successful completion of their second year in and enrollment at a professional Doctor of Pharmacy degree granting institution.
Knowledge of current pharmacy and therapeutics/evidence-based practice
Microsoft Office applications

Strong interpersonal skills
Preferred Requirements:
Experience as a pharmacy technician in an outpatient or inpatient setting
Previous work history with UnityPoint Health-Meriter Pharmacy Department
Vaccine administration
Multilingual
