JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: The Wisconsin Research, Innovation and Scholarly Excellence (RISE) Initiative is designed to help address significant, complex challenges of particular importance to Wisconsin and the world, through accelerated and strategic faculty hiring, research infrastructure enhancement, interdisciplinary collaboration and increased student and educational opportunities. The RISE-AI initiative seeks new faculty to expand upon UW-Madison\'s existing expertise in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) with a focus on both the core scientific dimensions as well as the human-centered implications of AI. Through the campus RISE hiring initiative and the College of Engineering RISE faculty hiring matching program, the College of Engineering will increase by nearly 50 tenure-track faculty members representing a more than a 20% growth in the total faculty body. The RISE-AI hiring initiative will add 20 new faculty members to this vibrant community in the College of Engineering. The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering seeks applicants at all ranks with a distinguished academic record and exceptional potential for creative research to develop and use AI and ML tools to solve chemical engineering problems. In particular, the department seeks candidates that will develop computational/theoretical research programs that use AI/ML in all areas of strategic importance to the future of chemical engineering including, (1) topics specifically related to the synthesis, characterization, and processing of next-generation soft and hard materials, and (2) topics specifically related to the construction and implementation of systems biology models for bioengineering design.
