Minimum Qualifications

  • MD/DO

  • Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Board Eligible/Board Certified in Infectious Disease

  • Ability to obtain Wisconsin Medical and DEA licensures

Job Details

  • Enjoy a varied inpatient and outpatient practice mix including Telehealth regional responsibilities as part of our patient-centered team consisting of 5 physician and 4 advanced practice providers.

  • Outpatient 3-4 day work week with time split between our SSM Health Dean Medical Group Madison South Madison Campus and SSM Health Dean Medical Group in Janesville.

  • Telehealth regional consult responsibilities as part of Janesville coverage.

  • Inpatient Telehealth consults with SSM Health St. Clare Hospital in Baraboo.

  • Advanced Practice Provider oversite with SSM Health St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac

  • Rotational participation in the weekly inpatient rotation of 1:5 where your inpatient call week is based at SSM Health St Mary’s Hospital in Madison (7 am Saturday-7 am Saturday).

  • Remaining weeks of the month are spent primarily in Janesville with a mix of telehealth, inpatient, and outpatient clinic, with one of those weeks spent in Madison at our South Madison Campus clinic.

  • Expect to treat 20 patients per day on average in both the inpatient call week and the outpatient clinic schedule.

  • Market competitive 2-year guaranteed salary with wRVU productivity component as well as signing bonus.

  • Must be able to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with people involved in the care of the patient including other team members, attending providers, nursing staff, and ancillary staff.

  • SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital-Madison is an ACS Level II Trauma Center

  • SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital is the referral hospital for the 7 hospital SSM Wisconsin Region. Our Wisconsin Region also counts 4 additional affiliate hospitals in our network.

  • SSM Health St. Mary’s Janesville Hospital is a modern, state-of-the-art 50-bed facility.

  • Opened in January 2012 with an adjacent physician’s office complex.

  • The hospital provides health care services from Urgent Care to ICU, and a recently added on site radiation oncology facility.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for obtaining call coverage by other medical staff members for holidays, vacations and other time off.

  • Responsible for the standard of practice for patient population.

  • Responsibility for maintaining a private office and all clinical decision making within the office during times of service.

  • Acts as an advisor and consultant in the establishment of operational policies of the practice to include: (1) Purchasing and capital allocations; (2) Managed care plan participation; (3) Budget and practice expenses; (4) Medicare/Medicaid participation; (5) Billing and collection of professional fees; (6) Personnel management and related policies; (7) Risk management and quality assurance; and (8) Coding compliance.

  • Responsible for after-hours call coverage for patients of the practice, in addition to office appointments.

  • Participates in community service activities, including speaking engagements, writing and special clinical programs as reasonably requested.

  • Responsible for all risk management, coding compliance and quality assurance activities and functions in and related to the practice.

  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Constant use of speech to share information through oral communication.

  • Constant standing and walking.

  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.

  • Frequent sitting, reaching and keyboard use/data entry.

  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.

  • Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors.

  • Frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.

  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.

  • Occasional lifting/moving of patients.

  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.

  • Occasional driving.

  • Rare crawling and running.
