Position Overview The Calibration Lab Metrologist intern will gain industry experience in developing, executing, and documenting calibration methods, preventative maintenance, and other necessary maintenance on laboratory instruments and equipment. This position is intended to be a full-time opportunity for an undergraduate to obtain hands-on experience in a metrological field and gain an understanding of deriving uncertainty evaluation and analysis for measurement standards and associated measurement processes in accordance with the Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement (GUM). Essential Duties With support from Metrologist and leadership, assist with deriving measurement uncertainty and analysis for measurement standards and processes. Develop Metrology procedures and techniques based on the principles of measurement science, technical analysis of measurement problems, and accuracy and precision requirements. Assist with the implementation and maintenance of ISO 17025 Quality Management System. Write, review, and execute installation, operational, and performance qualification protocols for new and existing equipment. Analyze current calibration procedures and identify improvements to ensure they meet the needs of the organization and comply with all relevant regulations. Prepare quality records and metrics as directed. Perform troubleshooting activities and repair instruments and equipment to service specifications. Complete and submit accurate and detailed service records. Track all service activities and ensure documentation is complete, timely, and accurate. Perform all service activities in compliance with all relevant safety and regulatory bodies (OSHA, ISO, FDA).
