Job Summary:

Perform patient assessments and works with other medical professionals to provide custom assistive technology products to patients.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assess the patients's skills, needs and mode of mobility for different environments; measures and fits customers for consumer level equipment based upon assessment information.

  • Educates customers on assistive technology product options, insurance guidelines and the process of obtaining devices.

  • Researches and compiles product options based on customer needs. Works in conjunction with other health care professionals to obtain the necessary documentation that supports the medical necessity for the equipment.

  • Demonstrates equipment as needed and as available.

  • Prepares necessary documentation and conducts follow-up to obtain necessary documentation.

  • Delivers and picks up equipment to and from patients’ homes. Provides and reviews written documentation to patients/caregivers and obtains signatures on delivery paperwork.

  • Performs final fittings and equipment modifications prior to and upon delivery. Trains patients, caregivers, family members and others in the proper use and maintenance of the equipment.

  • Provides follow-up support to customers.

  • Assists in performing repair services to rehab equipment provided by the department.

  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

  • High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience

EXPERIENCE

  • One year experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.

  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.

  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.

  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.

  • Frequent keyboard use/data entry.

  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.

  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.

  • Rare climbing.

REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL LICENSE AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS

  • Driving Record - Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
