JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: The Department of Surgery at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health is seeking an exceptional Acute Care Surgeon to join the faculty of a dynamic and growing Division of Acute Care and Regional General Surgery. Our division provides emergency general surgery, trauma and burn services at UW Health, and elective general surgery services to the Madison area UW affiliated hospitals. The UW Department of Surgery consists of more than 160 faculty across eleven specialty divisions, performing more than 25,000 operations annually. The Department also trains more than 70 residents and fellows and is consistently ranked amongst the top surgery programs with extramural research funding, currently 7th in the nation according to Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research. The department provides a robust infrastructure of services including academic resources such as The Wisconsin Surgical Outcomes Research Program (WiSOR), which provides support, resources, and a collaborative environment to facilitate surgical health services research at the University of Wisconsin. The Department\'s Office of Clinical Research provides clinical trial coordinator support for Clinical Trials as well regulatory support for research, and the grants management team provides comprehensive pre-award to post- award support. The Surgical Collaborative of Wisconsin also provides access to a network of surgeons throughout the state and this platform provides opportunities for collaborative quality improvement that improves the care of surgical patients throughout the state and region. Responsibilities: The Acute Care Surgeon will be based primarily at University Hospital, an American College of Surgeons designated Level I Trauma Center and American Burn Association verified Burn Center. University Hospital providers and staff treat more than 3,000 trauma patients each year.
