Henry Ford Health System Registered Nurse Supervisor - Cardiac Telemetry Stepdown - Full Time - Days in Madison Heights, Michigan

GENERAL SUMMARY

Department: Cardiac Telemetry Stepdown - Schedule: 3-12 Hour Shifts from 7:00a.m. - 7:30p.m.; rotating weekends - Hospital: Henry Ford Warren - Location: Warren, MI

Supervises, coordinates, and provides leadership while directing activities of clinical/non-clinical or interdisciplinary teams of licensed and non-licensed caregivers and support staff delivering quality patient care and ensuring implementation of clinical objectives in an assigned area. Responsibilities: Assesses daily patient care needs and develops and distributes patient care assignments of clinical/non-clinical or an interdisciplinary team of licensed and non-licensed caregivers and support staff, ensuring that population appropriate patient care is given.| In accordance with the applicable State Nurse Practice Act, delegates appropriate duties to clinical/non-clinical or interdisciplinary teams of licensed and non-licensed caregivers and support staff based on their assessed skills and abilities.| Gathers information from other members of the clinical/non-clinical or interdisciplinary team and uses this data to plan for the care of all patients on the unit for the shift.| Evaluates the care delivered by other licensed and non-licensed caregivers and support staff by providing direct and immediate feedback and coaching, ongoing verbal and written feedback to the clinical/non-clinical leader on the performance of staff and evaluating the performance trends under his/her direction and recommends and participates in corrective/disciplinary action as required.| Participates in the hiring process for new staff members assigned to the shift by conducting interviews and making hiring recommendations to the clinical/non-clinical leader.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Licensure / Certification / Registration: - BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

  • Registered Nurse credentialed from the Michigan Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

  • Education: Required professional licensure/certification AND 1 year of cumulative job specific experience required.

  • Charge Nurse experience is highly preferred, along with 2+ years of nursing experience.

  • Clinical Expertise: Extensive experience in cardiac telemetry or similar high acuity units, including advanced knowledge of cardiac monitoring, arrhythmia interpretation, and telemetry protocols. Leadership skills including the ability to lead teams, provide direction, and support professional development of staff. Strong delegation, mentoring, and conflict resolution skills are essential. Ability to assess complex clinical situations and make swift, sound decisions. Must have a proactive approach to patient safety and quality improvement initiatives. Effective Communication, skilled in clear and concise communication, both with the team and in interdisciplinary collaboration with other departments, physicians and patients' families. Strong skills in prioritizing, managing multiple tasks, and supporting unit workflow, and resource allocation.
