A leader in the exciting Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) industry, is seeking a talented Software Engineering Manager to establish, execute, and continuously improve our software engineering processes and tools. This is an AS 9100D/ISO 9001-2015 certified business. We use these processes for UAS design, manufacturing, production, testing, and operations including other aerospace-based products. Responsibilities
Establish, execute, and continuously improve software engineering processes and tools.
Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, ensuring adherence to best practices in DevSecOps, cybersecurity, and software safety.
Oversee the development, integration, and deployment of mission-critical software for unmanned aircraft systems (UAS).
Ensure compliance with software safety standards for aircraft, such as RTCA/DO-178 and MIL-STD-882.
Develop and implement DevSecOps tools and processes, including CI/CD pipelines, security testing, and automation.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
8+ years of software engineering experience, with 3+ years in a leadership or management role.
Familiarity with software safety standards for aircraft, such as RTCA/DO-178 and MIL-STD-882.
Proven ability to develop and continuously improve software engineering processes.
Experience overseeing the development, integration, and deployment of mission-critical software for unmanned aircraft systems (UAS).
Ability to lead and mentor a team of software engineers.
Experience with DevSecOps, cybersecurity, and software safety.
Ability to travel as needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience implementing DevSecOps tools and processes, including CI/CD pipelines, security testing, and automation.
Strong understanding of software architectures, embedded systems, and cybersecurity principles.
Experience in UAS, aerospace, or defense software development.
Knowledge of cloud-based DevSecOps environments, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and security frameworks (Zero Trust, RMF).
Familiarity with real-time operating systems (RTOS), flight control software, or embedded development is preferred.
Experience working in a DoD or military aviation environment.
Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with disparate functional groups.
Work Environment
Small family-owned environment doing innovative UAV work. Expected in-office work. Leading a team of software engineers and will be doing technical work.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $150000.00 - $180000.00/yr.
Work WeekMonday through Friday; 8 hours per day; 40 hoursper week. Different hours may be assigned tospecific individuals when circumstances warrant.Holidays10 holidays: New Year's Day, President's Day,Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day,Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and 3 additionalFloating Holidays (1 awarded after 3 monthsemployment, and 2 awarded after 6 months).Personal Time Off3 weeks per year accrued at 10 hours per month:• 1 to 5 years: 3 weeks• 5 to 10 years: 4 weeks• 10+ years: 5 weeksPaid time off (PTO) is available to use as vacation orsick leave. PTO may be accrued and carried over atthe end of the year up to240 total accumulativehours after 1 year.
