rThe Bilingual Early Childhood Lead Teacher will create a safe, engaging, and nurturing learning environment to deliver high-quality, play-based, bilingual instruction to infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-aged children at the WIU Quad Cities Bilingual Early Childhood Learning Center. This position involves leading and teaching daily activities, fostering language development, and helping children develop essential physical, cognitive, social-emotional, and self-care skills. Lead Teachers will collaborate with families and staff, enhancing communication through bilingual skills, preferably in Spanish. Job duties include:

  • Plan and implement high-quality on-site bilingual instruction and assessment for children ages birth to eight. Instruction will be differentiated to address each child\'s physical, cognitive, and social-emotional development, with progress documented in ongoing records. The Lead Teacher will also implement social-emotional learning and positive behavior supports within the classroom. Responsibilities include assisting with observations and behavior intervention plans, supporting the implementation of Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals, and aiding in multilingual communication goals;
  • Aid in the supervision of children during classroom activities, meals, outdoor play, transitions, toileting and field trips;
  • Participate in staff meetings, bilingual professional development and research for educators and families based on early childhood education with special emphasis on play-based education, bilingual education, inclusion, special education and language acquisition;
  • Help maintain, clean and organize a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment that supports learning and best practices, that is healthy, safe and organized in accordance with Illinois state licensing standards and encourages positive behavior management and conflict resolution techniques;
  • Foster Family Engagement through development of strong, respectful relationships with families, communication and updates of student physical, cognitive and social emotional development, conducting parent/teacher conferences and participating in family events, as well as off resources for at home learning;
  • Assist with the preparation and submission of documentation for quality improvement, licensure, and grants as required;
  • Submit Professional Development Forms to ISBE, Gateways, and Early Intervention needed for ongoing professional development and for each new workshop/webinar annually.

SALARY: \$34,560 to \$38,472 annually; commensurate with experience.

Job Requirements:

A Bachelor\'s Degree in Early Childhood Education or sixty semester hours (or 90 quarter hours) of credits from an accredited college or university with six semester or nine quarter hours in courses related directly to child care and/or child development, from birth to age six; or one year (1560 clock hours) of child development experience in a nursery school, kindergarten, or licensed day care center and 30 semester hours (or 45 quarter hours) of credits from an accredited college or university with six semester or nine quarter hours in courses related directly to child care and/or child development, from birth to age six;

One year (1560 clock hours) of working child development experience in a nursery school, kindergarten, or licensed day care center;
