We are in search of a Laser Operator, who will be located at one of our Machesney Park, Illinois facilities. Summary: Laser operators run computerized cutting and engraving machines to slice and carve materials, such as metal parts, plastic, and wood. In this role, you set up the machine lens and adjust the instrument between each project to meet specifications while adhering to proper safety procedures before, during, and after you operate machinery. You may also be responsible for repairing and maintaining the CNC laser machinery, as well as taking inventory of CNC machine-related products.he Laser Operator role is an active and fast-paced role that supports the companys quality policies and objectives. This role will efficiently produce parts to specification ensuring customer satisfaction, while reducing costs of re-work, scrap, and returned products. In fact, well keep things exciting and boost your development through on-the-job training. Youll keep busy in a fast-paced production environment while expanding your knowledge through on-the-job training- all as you contribute towards crafting quality products.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate laser machinery according to specifications outlined
- Knowledge and understanding of metal fabrication.
- Utilizing a crane to move sheets of steel to the bed of the laser machine.
- Unload parts from the laser bed
- Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
- Reading and understanding blueprints and mechanical drawings
- Knowledge/use of appropriate tools to keep machines in operation
- Attention to detail; adherence to all standards of quality and safety
- Addressing machine malfunctions in an efficient and expedited manner
- Maintain departmental 5S housekeeping standards
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education: High School Diploma/GED required
- Experience: 1-3 years trade training/experience CNC Machine Operator
- Training: Some on the job as needed
- Skills: Possess ability to interpret documents, blueprints, bill of materials operating safety manuals, work instructions, possess mechanical aptitude and the ability to perform basic calculations to operate and fabricating machines.
- Operational knowledge of CNC cutting machines, press brakes, drills, and saws
- Must be able to pass physical, drug screen, and background checks
- Must be able to read and understand English
Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, lift and/or move up to 50 lbs, bend, use hands, and fingers for 8 + hours. (Overtime may be required)
