Job Title: CNC Machinist

Job Description

• Sets up complex jobs on CNC equipment.

• Utilizes knowledge of working properties and machining procedures for a wide variety of materials.

• Works from blueprints and process sheets to machine parts to close tolerances.

• Selects proper tools and fixtures for the job.

• Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.

• Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.

• Develops machine program if one does not exist.

• Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications.

• Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining problems.

• Follows preventative maintenance procedures on equipment as required.

• Completes and scans work orders accurately for each job.

• Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

• Functions in a workplace of dignity and respect for all.

• Functions as a team member and gets along with others.

• Honors EEO guidelines and principles.

• Reports for work on time as scheduled and ready to perform.

• Performs other similar or related duties as directed, assigned or as necessary to accomplish the department’s objectives in an effective manner.

Skills

  • Sets up and operates CNC Machines such as CNC Lathe or CNC Vertical Machining Center

  • May also work on manual machines

  • Programming/Editing CNC machines

  • Setting up mills and lathes

  • Reading blueprints and engineering plans

  • Interpreting GD&T

  • Basic math, geometry, and trigonometry
