BWXT is currently seeking a Mission Assurance Manager for its Lynchburg, VA – Advanced Technologies location!

The Mission Assurance Manager will oversee all mission assurance activities for BWXT Advanced Technologies. In this role, the Mission Assurance Manager will provide independent oversight to AT’s program offices serving DOE, DOD, NASA, and commercial customers to ensure overall mission success. The ideal candidate will implement robust processes and improvements with a focus on program performance, customer satisfaction, system safety, and mission success.

Job Description / Duties:

  • Support programs as necessary on mission assurance deliverables, including compliance with customer and BWXT quality requirements, reliability analyses, supportability analyses, flight/range safety assessments, and risk assessments.

  • Direct and coordinate mission assurance activities for program offices, including configuration and data management.

  • Develop project specific mission assurance plans and oversee implementation.

  • Supply independent perspective, recommendations, and analysis to program/product offices and AT leadership to ensure all aspects of mission success are properly planned and implemented.

  • Serve on technical review boards as independent oversight.

  • Oversee records management, training, the Integrated Management System, and the Corrective Action Program as the implementing arms of a robust, efficient, and effective mission assurance organization.

  • Lead improvements to AT’s Integrated Management System, a comprehensive set of documentation enabling work to be accomplished safely and repeatably.

  • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance group to develop and implement quality plans based on Company procedures, government/industry standards, and best practices to ensure products meet mission/customer requirements.

  • Manage cross-functional team comprised of Engineering, Manufacturing, Supplier Performance Management/Supplier Quality, and Global Supply Chain to assess areas for improvement in the quality program, ensuring quality is inherent in every requirement, design, work product, and end-product.

  • Manage tools and processes that support risk management, non-conformances, and component pedigree.

  • Lead the professional development of junior employees who will be contributors to successful mission assurance.

Job Qualifications / Requirements:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Physics is required.

  • Must have at least five (5) years of leadership experience in project management and/or mission assurance and/or systems engineering.

  • Must have previous experience serving in mission assurance roles.

  • Must have a working knowledge of DoD 5000 policy series, NASA 7120 policy series, Quality Management Systems IS09001 and AS9100, NQA-1, Configuration and Data Management, and implementation of internal and contractual quality requirements.

  • Must have demonstrated success working in a dynamic environment with multiple competing priorities.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) or Department of Defense (DOD) security clearance, whichever is required.

Additional Desired Skillsets:

  • Experience with nuclear reactors design and manufacturing.

  • Experience with spacecraft design and manufacturing.

  • Experience working in a unit-level qualification, test, and requirements verification environment; including subcontractors.

  • Prior experience leading agile teams.

  • Experience working with Department of Defense or NASA Customer.

  • Experience with anomaly resolution and root cause analysis.

  • Experience in rapid prototyping, integration, and test programs.

Pay: $[[custsalaryMin]] - $[[custsalaryMax]]

The base salary range for this position in [[stateProvince]] at the start of employment is expected to be between $[[custsalaryMin]] and $[[custsalaryMax]] per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.
