Job Summary: As a Senior Cook you will plan and prepare quality meals using LSS menus and recipes for residents in a residential group home setting. You will order and receive food and kitchen, cleaning and household supplies, maintain cooking areas, appliances, food storage and dishwashing areas to comply with health codes/licensing requirements and work with food suppliers and donation organizations to keep costs within budgeted allowances. You will also teach the residents basic cooking skills, food handling/storage and sanitation and nutrition concepts, prep meals for program staff for use on weekends and holidays and work with program management to address any issues regarding the mishandling of food or problems with the sanitation of equipment or food prep/storage space. Job Requirements: A minimum of one year of experience in a full service kitchen in a long term care facility, school, or restaurant; experience with budgets. Knowledge of all kitchen equipment, utensils usage and organized food storage. Knowledge of Health Department regulations. Able to recognize boundaries and solve problems. Food Manager Certification; may be obtained after hire.
