Air Education and Training Command Sports Specialist in Luke AFB, Arizona

Summary About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Fitness Center and Sports at Luke AFB, AZ. This position is a Regular Part Time position, guaranteed 20 hours per week with benefits. Responsibilities Organizes and directs the intramural/extramural sports program IAW appropriate governing directives, policies, and procedures. Assist with preparing plans, budgets, and major schedules, etc., for intramural programs. Assists with developing annual program plan and sports calendar. Organizes base intramural and sports center activities from the point of participant respond, recourses, unforeseen developments, and program objectives. Determines equipment, facility, and manpower requirements for programs. Provides information to participants regarding the rules, regulations, and requirements for program matters such as facility schedules, patron eligibility, discipline, and fees. Considers safety and environmental circumstances affecting program/event, ensuring necessary facilities and equipment are ready fand safe for events. Submits planned programs and events to supervisor for approval and submission to Marketing and Publicity. Works with base agencies such as base civil engineer, safety, environmental health, and transportation to arrange support services. Conducts coaches' meetings, makes league schedules, established by-laws, coordinates rule clinics, etc. Assists in executing the base Sports program for adults covering a variety of individual, dual and team sports carried out through various levels of competition and participation. Within the parameters of governing directives, monitors allocation of financial and other resources for the intramural and varsity sport programs. Assists in preparing appropriated and non-appropriated fund program requirements with supporting data and submits to supervisor for review and inclusion in the overall sports budgets. Accounts for cash and other resources used within the program area; and applies appropriate protection and cash handling procedures as required. Prepares purchase order requests to obtain fitness and sports equipment, supplies and maintenance for equipment. Assist's in ensuring athletic facilities, equipment, grounds, and field structures to be used are maintained to all operable specifications. Coordinates request for facility, equipment, or other maintenance requests. Serves as contract liaison for applicable program area personal/non-personal service contracts. Assists patrons in complaint resolution. Provides guidance on proper health and physical fitness techniques. Prepares Sports Advisory Council minutes. Performs all other duties as assigned. Qualifying Experience: Have at least 2 years prior experience in planning, implementing, and scheduling fitness and sports programs and related activities (softball, soccer, basketball, running etc.). Experience which enabled to competently and independently execute continuing sports programs through proper application of the principles, concepts, and techniques of sports programs and to manage financial and other resources available. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying. Additional Information Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
