Pressley Ridge Intake and Placement Specialist in Lufkin, Texas

Position Summary

The Intake and Placement Specialist will require specialized knowledge in placement of children to obtain appropriate placement into Child Placing Agencies, Emergency Shelters, General Residential Operations and Residential Treatment Centers. This work involves coordinating placement within the region and/or state for children who have basic, moderate, specialized, and intense level of care. Work involves reviewing placement application for sufficiency and quality of information. The position interacts with case managers and placement providers to identify suitable placement options. Coordinates the placement process with licensed providers to deliver effective services for children and identify any needs while assessing the child for the best suitable placement.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provides program and agency information and/or makes referrals to other community resources.

  • Processes, assesses, and assigns incoming referrals.

  • Communicates with appropriate staff regarding incoming referrals.

  • Documents written and electronically for all referrals.

  • Examines Minimum Standards for various types of placement resources

  • Engages with Youth for Tomorrow for levels of care to meet children’s needs while in placement.

  • Identifies providers who are able to meet the needs of children with disabilities when locating a placement.

  • Ability to work independently to meet placement deadlines and job performance.

    Essential Qualifications

  • Education/Credentials/Licensure: An accredited Bachelor's degree OR Accredited Associate's degree plus two (2) years of relevant work experience OR 60 accredited college credit hours plus two (2) years relevant work experience OR 90 accredited college credit hours plus one (1) year of relevant work experience. Examples of relevant work experience in social, human, or protective services include paid or volunteer work within social service agencies or communities providing services to families or other at-risk populations.

  • Valid driver’s license and auto insurance

  • Experience: Requires one (1) year experience Child Placement Experience.

  • Clearances: State Police, FBI, and Child Abuse Clearances; CPSL Mandated Reporter-Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse training per state regulation.

    Working Conditions

  • Physical Demands. Requires vision, speech, and hearing and a moderate to high level of physical activity including: sitting, standing, walking lifting and carrying as required. Must be able to meet the demands and complete Crisis Intervention & Prevention (CIP).

  • Environmental Factors. Indoors/Outdoors: school, home, community

  • Working Hours. Flexible non-traditional office hours; variable schedule based on program need.

Education

Required

  • Some college or better in Social Work

Preferred

  • Associates or better in Social Work

  • Bachelors or better in Social Work

Experience

Required

  • 1 year: Experience with Child Placement Experience.
