CITY OF LUBBOCK Street Light Maintenance Worker in Lubbock, Texas
Summary
Operates a specially equipped truck or piece of equipment. Performs maintenance, repair and construction of all street lighting facilities.
Essential Functions
- Operate utility line trucks equipped with hydraulic boom, "A" frame, auger or winch and stocked with materials, tools, equipment and supplies for the maintenance, repair and construction of low voltage street light equipment (600 volts or less);
- Operate a backhoe, boring machine and trencher. Service and maintain equipment;
- Maintain stock of material on the truck for various construction and repair projects;
- Perform ground work such as shoveling dirt, concrete work, and assembling all types of materials for street light poles;
- Perform minor electrical and hydraulic repairs on equipment;
- Perform related duties as required.
Qualifications
Completion of high school or the equivalent. Three years of experience in the operation of heavy construction equipment,particularly a hydraulic boom and winch, boring machine and trencher; or any combination of relevant education and experience that provides the following:
Physical Exam Required
Valid Current Commercial Driver's License
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of:
- Operation and maintenance of hydraulic boom, winch, boring machine, trencher and backhoe.
Ability to:
- Read and understand diagrams of electrical and hydraulic schematics.
- Perform minor hydraulic repairs.
- Communicate effectively with others.
Physical Requirements:
- Continuously lift or carry up to 25 pounds, frequently lift or carry up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift or carry up to 100 pounds;
- Frequently walk, stand, bend, and kneel during the shift;
- Push and pull objects toward and away from oneself;
- Frequently flex upper trunk forward at the waist and partially flex at the knees;
- Occasionally rotate upper trunk to the right or left while sitting or standing.
