Robert Half has a terrific permanent position available for an experienced Staff Accountant in Lubbock, TX. In this position, the Staff Accountant prepares journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance and general ledger reconciliation. You will also be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. You will lend your skills in assisting the development and implementation of accounting policies. In addition, you will take part in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and look over schedules for the reporting processes. This intricate position is involved in the production of Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets.

What you get to do every single day

• Organize and review various financial data, then report it in a manner that is useful and understandable

• Take part in various department-wide initiatives

• Periodically maintain and reconcile journal entries

• In-depth experience with month end balance sheet account reconciliations

• Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested

• Implement, maintain, and adhere to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP

• Intercompany billings, transactions, and reconciliation

• Compose thorough journal entries and account reconciliations which include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll

• Assist in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation

• Assemble analyses for monthly balance sheets and income statements for management reporting

• Manage schedules for capital lease and monthly payments

• Conduct month end close and compose journal entries with minimal supervision

• Maintain fixed asset ledgers, depreciation, and reconciliation

  Requirements - Spreadsheet and database capabilities

• Accounts Payable (AP) experience

• General familiarity with Monthly Sales Tax

• Workday experience highly preferred

• Adeptness in journal entries

• Practical knowledge of ADP - Payroll

• Foundational knowledge in cash flow management

• Deep understanding of Daily Cash Management

• Demonstrated knowledge of Balance Sheet Reconciliation

• Bank reconciliations experience

• Cash reconciliations experience

• Great attention to detail

• Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus

• Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines

• Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems

• Competent with spreadsheets and databases

• Sharp, analytical thinking abilities, always seeking to draw connections and identify the "why"

• Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills

• Knowledgeable of ERP systems

• Recent and relevant accounting experience

• BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
