IT Support Technician III

Position Description:

The IT Support Technician III's scope includes providing technical support and assistance to departments, faculty, staff, and students with the use of basic hardware and some software support and maintenance. This position will also specialize in hardware and software relevant to the department or unit, and manage area or unit IT projects in support of business operations. Adherence to robust safety practices and compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations are responsibilities of all employees.

Major/Essential Functions:

IT Support/Access:

  • Provide technical knowledge and IT support (troubleshoot, test, analyze, document, implement/configure) in support of business requirements.

  • Review, monitor, update, and audit all user access for the department ensuring accuracy, completeness, timeliness, and conformance to all governing regulation and institutional and departmental policies and procedures.

Purchasing & Procurement:

  • Procure and maintain (within the designated budget and as approved by leadership) any needed hardware, computer equipment, software, and resources in support of the business requirements ensuring accuracy, completeness, timeliness, and conformance to all governing regulation and institutional and departmental policies and procedures.

  • Assist supervisor with all required IT/property management reporting.

Customer Service/Other:

  • Respond to department and campus inquiries and address issues to ensure compliance with all governing regulation and institutional and departmental policy.

  • Conduct and/or attend meetings and trainings as required. Assist supervisor with documentation of internal procedures/procedure manual.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and practice in TTU software/programs (Banner, Cognos, Jira, etc.) and TTU policies and procedures.

  • Experience using IT project management system, knowledge base, and online software manual information using content management systems and/or wikis.

  • Working knowledge of MS Active Directory, Group Policy, PowerShell, Batch, and VB Script.

  • Experience with computer and printer/scanner/copier hardware analysis and repair.

  • Experience with basic network troubleshooting.

  • Ability to assist users with use of hardware, and some software support and maintenance.

  • Demonstrated competency in verbal and written communication, time management, problem-solving, and decision-making.

  • Ability to learn new programs/software quickly.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree with coursework in computer science, MIS, IT, or other related area plus three (3) years related full-time paid experience OR a combination of related education and/or experience.
