Tufts Medicine Student Nurse Intern, Inpatient Units in Lowell, Massachusetts

Lowell General Hospital is excited to kick off our 2025 Student Nurse Summer Intern Program .

Offered to Nursing Students entering senior year, the program provides nursing students with a combination of clinical experience in an acute care hospital setting, along with educational sessions. This is a paid intern program with roles in In-Patient Critical Care Units . 32 hours per week from 7am-3:30pm.

This is a great opportunity to gain nursing experience, and to learn about the nursing career path offered by Lowell General Hospital. Upon graduation from an accredited Nursing Program, you are eligible to apply for our Nurse Residency Program.

To be considered for the 2025 Student Nurse Intern Program you must complete an online application and attach your resume and cover letter. The program runs from June 9th to August 15th.

Specific tasks that the Student Nurse Intern will perform include:

  • Assist with activities of daily living for patients

  • Taking vital signs, performing EKGs, and placing patients on heart monitors.

  • Transportation of patients using appropriate mode including ambulatory, wheelchair, or stretcher.

  • Attend weekly classes on a variety of healthcare topics with a focus on enhancing critical thinking skills.

  • Stocking assigned areas with supplies and linen.

  • Empty hampers and wash equipment during downtime.

  • 1:1 monitoring as needed to maintain safety.

  • Use of therapeutic communication in accordance with Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training.

  • Clerical duties and answering phones using proper professional etiquette.

  • Assists with care and ADLs for all patients.

  • Perform CPR.

  • Perform and record patient vital signs and document clinical data in electronic medical record system.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Current enrollment in an accredited nursing program and completion of one clinical rotation.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Timeline:

  • Applications will be accepted starting February 17, 2025

  • Interviews will be scheduled during the weeks of 3/24/25 and 3/31/25

  • Decisions will be made on a rolling basis, with final offers no later than 4/14/2025

  • The program will formally start on June 9, 2025, and will run through August 15, 2025
