Consumer Lending Specialist – Lowell, MA

What You’ll Do:

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Subject matter expert and primary contact for all consumer loans.

  • Conducts review of consumer loan applications to determine creditworthiness according to the Bank's underwriting and credit standards.

  • Answers inquiries from borrowers and branch team members related to loan documentation and underwriting requirements.

  • Reviews and calculates income documentation and all other required documents and clear conditions.

  • Independently approves and processes loans within Meridian Link ensuring acceptable credit scores, debt-to-income ratios, reviewing credit reports, employment history, ability to repay, income, and capacity of applicant(s). Communicates decisions to borrowers.

  • Establishes and meets turnaround time requirements for loan decisions.

  • Prepares loan closing documents and sends to borrowers through DocuSign.

  • Processes loan disbursement in Premier through TMS or sends disbursement instruction to the chosen branch for processing.

  • Proactively works to improve the Meridian Link workflow, working closely with Senior Consumer & Home Equity Lending Manager and Business Analysts to create efficiencies in the program.

  • Works with Senior Consumer and Home Equity Lending Manager to create and facilitate ongoing Consumer Lending Training for branch team members.

  • Reviews and updates consumer lending policies and procedures and communicates changes to branch team members as needed.

  • Manages Consumer Lending Title issues, resolving any unperfected titles, and manages Vintek for MA titling. Maintains up to date NH and MA Vehicle Titling procedures.

  • Submits and reconciles MASS Save Heat Loan Invoicing. Pulls monthly reports from Meridian Link for all closed Mass Save Heat Loans and prepares monthly interest invoice and submits to the Mass Save Portal. When a check is received for interest payment, reconciles and delivers to Loan Servicing for processing.

  • Pulls monthly reports for Consumer Loan referrals in Dynamics and closes out cases for originated loans.

  • Assists the HELOC Specialists as needed in processing The HELOC pipeline.

  • Manages the HELOC modification and HELOC extension set ups.

  • Exceeds customer expectations by following the guidelines of the Customer Experience Program.

  • Perform all duties consistent with applicable Federal and State laws and regulations as well as Bank policies.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

This position is Hybrid, Remote, or Onsite. Candidates from MA, NH, and ME only.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college/university, and

  • Five years’ related experience/training; or

  • Equivalent combination of education/experience.
