Summary Objective
The purpose of this appointed position is to manage one of the most high-profile social media accounts in Louisville. The position will manage all social media accounts for the Office of the Mayor, as well as perform some constituent communications, media relations, and public information services. The position will write, edit, design and post creative and engaging content that will tell stories in new and dynamic ways, plus increasing following and engagement. This candidate must think in a digital-first mindset and be well-versed in differentiating content across social media platforms to ensure posts resonate with viewers. In addition, candidate must know how to measure and benchmark performance to ensure the right content is being posted for the right audience. Candidate must have a proven track record of managing social accounts, providing a digital portfolio and providing metrics on the success of those accounts.
This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.Examples of Duties
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Manages one of the most high-profile social media accounts in Louisville.
- Manages all social media accounts for the Office of the Mayor.
- Writes, edits, designs, and posts creative and engaging content that will tell stories in new and dynamic ways, plus increasing following and engagement.
- Creates in a digital-first mindset and be well-versed in differentiating content across social media platforms to ensure posts resonate with viewers.
- Measures and benchmarks performance to ensure the right content is being posted for the right audience.
- Posts promptly.
- Performs some important constituent communications.
- Handles some media relations and public information requests.
- Participates in the Mayor’s communication meetings.
- Performs related work as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, Marketing or related discipline.
- Three (3) year of journalism, communications or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
- Must be willing to work some nights and weekends, as required by the mayor's schedule.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
- Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
