Overview:

Our client is the leader in the development of innovative multiomics methods and a collaborator with academic and biopharma partners is seeking a Research and Development Manager will be instrumental in overseeing daily R&D operations, ensuring projects are executed effectively and align with our high standards of scientific rigor and operational excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Split evenly between laboratory and office settings, with responsibilities including managing project timelines, delegating tasks, and spearheading technical discussions essential to internal and external development projects.

  • Oversee and coordinate the daily activities of the R&D team, ensuring projects are executed efficiently and objectives are met within timelines.

  • Delegate project tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel, fostering a collaborative environment and ensuring clear communication across the team.

  • Lead discussions on project direction, experimental design, and innovation within the scope of sequencing genetics, biopharma, and molecular biology.

  • Monitor and evaluate project progress, providing technical guidance and support to the R&D team as needed.

  • Contribute to the development and writing of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), research reports, validation documents, and presentation materials for quarterly R&D meetings.

  • Maintain and enhance technical skills and knowledge within the team, particularly in bioinformatics strategies and project management techniques.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory and quality standards in the laboratory setting.

  • Facilitate professional development and training of team members to ensure high levels of competence and performance in R&D processes.

    Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in life sciences, molecular biology, or related field with 5 to 7 years of relevant industry experience.

  • Proven experience in managing R&D projects in molecular biology, genomics and transcriptomics, and other life sciences applications.

  • Exposure to bioinformatics strategies and techniques.

  • Working knowledge of R, python, and Linux OS.

  • Practical knowledge of project management principles and practices.

  • Capable of effective team leadership and project delegation.

  • Strong background in DNA and RNA biology, molecular laboratory techniques, Next Generation Sequencing.

    Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • PhD in a life science field with at least two years of relevant industry experience.

  • Advanced understanding of molecular biology techniques and applications in R&D.

  • Demonstrated ability in technical writing and the preparation of scientific presentations.

  • Experience with interdepartmental collaboration and communication.

    Additional Requirements

  • Willingness to travel up to 10% to attend conferences, scientific sessions, and other professional development opportunities.
