We are seeking a highly motivated Principal Design Engineer to join our team and lead the development, evaluation, and execution of projects within our Refrigeration Technology division.

As a Principal Design Engineer – Thermal Systems, you will function as an engineering leader responsible for developing optimized solutions around cost, quality, and performance. You will lead the execution of changes through the NPI (New Product Introduction) and C-change processes for refrigeration products.

How You'll Create Possibilities

  • Leadership and Project Management:

  • Lead the development and execution of design plans, project schedules, and evaluation plans.

  • Guide the Refrigeration Technology team in implementing changes and improvements.

  • Design and Development:

  • Develop and enhance control algorithms for bottom freezer platforms.

  • Utilize data analysis tools to review control performance and develop parameters to meet consumer expectations.

  • Testing and Validation:

  • Conduct testing, validation, and verification to ensure products meet conformance specifications.

  • Analyze and interpret test data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Technical Support:

  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to product design, manufacturing, or field quality.

  • Support yield and scrap projects in the AP5 factory related to thermal systems.

  • Collaboration:

  • Work with the software team to integrate parametric updates into software releases.

  • Coordinate part and product changes between Qingdao and AP5 factories.

  • Support the Haier team on execution of BPCRs at sourced CIB.

  • Documentation and Mentorship:

  • Maintain design documentation for all concepts, prototypes, and production configurations.

  • Mentor less experienced engineers in problem-solving, engineering principles, and project management skills.

What You'll Bring to Our Team

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical degree.

  • 7+ years of engineering experience, with a focus on refrigeration or HVAC design.

  • Strong project management and analytical/problem-solving skills.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft products.

  • Experience with thermal systems and algorithm development.

  • Certified Reliability Practitioner or other quality certification preferred.

  • Experience with Creo CAD software.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and oral communication skills.

  • Willingness to travel up to 15% and ability to manage off-hour conference calls with global suppliers.
