What’s a typical day as a Pharmacy Tech? You’ll be:

  • Verifying information on prescriptions received prior to processing, including correct prescriber, patient information, medication, dose, quantity, number of refills, lot, and expiration date.

  • Communicating with customer representatives as necessary to ensure medication compliance, medication and supply inventory, and overall coordination of care.

  • Following HIPAA and privacy law guidelines, as well as any other local or federal laws.

  • Maintaining all records, including prescription logs and related files.

  • Evaluating all completed prescriptions/authorizations to ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations.

  • Performing follow-up on all outstanding prescriptions/authorizations and communicating discrepancies to pharmacists or PSC technicians.

  • Problem-solving on order delays.

  • Maintaining a clean and orderly work site.

  • Performing routine and professional pharmacy functions.

  • Checking patient history for any duplicate orders and following proper procedures.

This job might be an outstanding fit if you:

  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent.

  • Hold a Kentucky Pharmacy Technician Registration.

  • Are over the age of 18, as required by Kentucky law for licensed pharmacy technicians.

  • Have one (1) year of previous specialty pharmacy technician experience (preferred).

  • Are nationally certified through the PTCB or another approved certifying agency (preferred).

  • Possess knowledge of medical terminology, brand and generic names of medications, and general pharmacy terminology.

  • Are computer literate, including familiarity with operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, presentation software, communication tools, and Adobe PDF or comparable software.

  • Can read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Possess excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

  • Can follow established process flows and perform repetitious work accurately.

  • Pay attention to detail and can recognize subtle differences in names and numbers.

  • Can work independently with little supervision and meet daily expectations.

  • Are able to work effectively in highly stressful situations and exhibit flexibility in changing situations.

  • Can sit for prolonged periods of time, have hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity, and can occasionally lift up to 20 lbs.
