Job Title: Lab Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Lab Technician to join our team. You will perform a variety of quality tests on oils and document results accurately. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience in a growing lab environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform quality tests on oils, including color, moisture, PV, FFA, RI, nickel, IV, soap, foam, phosphorous, and input data in a timely manner.

  • Run spectronic color tests.

  • Conduct SFCs and melt point tests on relevant oils.

  • Analyze oils for moisture using distillation moisture apparatus.

  • Utilize ICP and HPLC for various tasks.

  • Run GCs on oils to establish purity percentage, fatty acid profiles, IV, and other identifications.

  • Perform mono and chemical iodine tests.

  • Enter COAs into the system for bulk and packaging.

  • Document testing results into ITS.

  • Conduct chlorophyll tests.

  • Run glycol and IV tests and report results to operators and supervisors.

  • Perform cold tests on soybean oil.

  • Analyze cinnamon and sugar percentages.

  • Maintain a clean and oil-free work area.

  • Perform bleaching tests on cotton and palm oils.

  • Conduct all necessary tests on special blends for R&D.

  • Enter data into VAI and Excel.

  • Ensure all items are signed in and out of the tool room when needed.

  • Perform and document tests using the Perkin Elmer FTIR and ABB FTIR.

  • Prepare starch and solutions for tests.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in laboratory quality testing.

  • Knowledge of Chemistry and Biology.

  • Proficiency in wet chemistry and titration.

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or equivalent experience in a wet chemistry lab.

  • If degree only, must have taken organic chemistry courses.

  • Experience in chemical testing, preferably with oils.

  • Quality control experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Ideal candidates will have a Chemistry degree and a couple of years of lab experience.

  • Open to new graduates with relevant lab experience during college.

Work Environment

You will be working in a small team, with two people in the lab Monday through Friday, and you will be the only person in the lab on Saturdays and Sundays. The schedule follows a 2/2/3 pattern from 7 AM to 7 PM. Standard PPE is required in the lab. Our lab is currently undergoing expansion, providing growth opportunities and exposure to a variety of tasks, making it a great entry-level position for lab technicians.

6 MONTH CONTRACT**

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
