Minimum Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field and four (4) years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Grade 9 (Salaried)Position Description:The University of Louisville School of Dentistry is seeking to hire an Applications Manager. The Applications Manager oversees the Applications Support operations and provides leadership for a team of 3-4 applications support analysts. Managing the schools Electronic Health Record, PACS applications and associated hardware, SQL databases, Oracle Database Appliances, Digital Dentistry software and hardware, this on-site role is critical for ensuring the highest level of customer support to over 1100 Faculty, Staff and Students, across 22 different clinics, including 9 satellite clinics.Supporting patient care with over 120,000 dental visits per year, in various clinics across the county and state, our Electronic Health Record (EHR) is at the very center of everything we do in Dental Informatics. With a hands-on approach, reporting to the Director, you will be guiding a small team and playing a big part in creating excellence in Dental care, dental education and dental research.Essential Duties and Responsibilities Leadership & Team Management:Lead and manage the Applications team and evaluate performance.Recruit, train and support Application analysts.Serve as an expert level analyst and hierarchical escalation point.Operations & Service Delivery:Oversee management of the Electronic Health Record (EHR), gaining and maintaining deep knowledge of all features and limitations, ensuring complete HIPAA compliance.Oversee all Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) systems ensuring full functionality, maintaining uptimes, ensuring HIPAA compliance, and providing solutions and optimization where needed.Leads efforts to upgrade the schools Electronic Health Record (EHR) and subsequent applications, coordinating with Vendors, faculty and staff as needed.Working closely with appointed vendors and technical staff to administer and oversee administration of Oracle and Microsoft SQL databases, ensuring storage, archiving, backup, and recovery procedures are functioning correctly.Responsible for improving processes and workflows within the Applications group. Working closely with the Desktop and System Admins groups to realize the business needs. Evaluate, recommend ad implement, solutions that support the school’s mission.Develop and implement policies and procedures pertaining to application use, data governance, security ensuring they align with industry standards and regulatory requirementsUpdate, maintain and create documentation, based on schools’ best practices for all matters relating to the position and group.Engage in the formulation, organization, and readiness of the yearly technology budget in collaboration with the Director, Desktop manager and Systems engineer.Exhibits proficient communication skills within the entire ULSD community, pinpointing and fulfilling the requirements of end users. Responsibilities may include delivering presentations on various subjects to students, faculty, and staff, related to the school’s functioning and objectives.Reporting & Analytics:Design and generate query-based reports using development tools, such as Crystal Reports.Generate regular reports on Application ticket performance metrics and present them to senior management.Analyze trends in ticket submissions to identify areas for improvement.The ideal candidate will possess outstanding verbal and written communication abilities, demonstrate a strong orientation towards customer service, and exhibit exceptional proficiency in reporting, supporting applications/databases and managing projects.
