The Role

Consumer Engineering continuously improves the Netflix experience to delight, attract, and retain our members. We’re responsible for much of what our members interact with when they use Netflix - from our streaming algorithms to our client and server playback systems to the UI our members use daily to find their next favorite Netflix title.

We are hiring for multiple roles across our TV-focused product teams. Our teams work on building novel product features and client architecture on the consumer-facing Netflix experiences to help members discover and connect with stories they'll love (https://techcrunch.com/2020/02/24/new-netflix-feature-reveals-the-top-10-most-popular-programs-on-its-service/) . We partner with designers and product managers to define and refine concepts that will shape the future of entertainment (https://www.reuters.com/technology/netflix-tests-biggest-tv-app-redesign-10-years-2024-06-06/) . Our work delights millions of members worldwide on hundreds of different devices, from streaming sticks to smart TVs to Web browsers.

What you’ll be doing

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and engineering partners to scope project roadmaps to build delightful and accessible user experiences

  • Build experimentation-driven product features, core UI infrastructure & systems , and define best practices to help drive consistency and simplicity of client code

  • Work on TVUI Client code base that is TypeScript/JavaScript based , built with React Frameworks & Redux architecture fine-tuned for TV platforms , and tested with proprietary Jest-based automation frameworks

  • Architect maintainable, highly performant, testable TVUI client code with effective documentation that can be leveraged by TVUI developers on other teams

  • Keep a pulse on cutting-edge Web/JS technologies and software engineering practices, and modernize the TVUI client code base to accelerate innovation velocity while upholding high product quality

Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $100,000 - $720,000.

Netflix provides comprehensive benefits including Health Plans, Mental Health support, a 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer match, Stock Option Program, Disability Programs, Health Savings and Flexible Spending Accounts, Family-forming benefits, and Life and Serious Injury Benefits. We also offer paid leave of absence programs. Full-time hourly employees accrue 35 days annually for paid time off to be used for vacation, holidays, and sick paid time off.
