UCLA Health Staff Research Associate 1 - Neurology in Los Angeles, California

Description

The Principal Investigator is seeking an experienced, motivated, and attentive to detail research assistant with interest in neurology education research. This new team is being developed to better develop and study novel innovations in neurology education, such as targeted curriculum development, simulation, case-based teaching, flipped classroom learning, etc. In addition to implementation of educational innovations, the team will also develop appropriate evaluation and assessment tools to best study the outcomes of these curricula and educational innovations. The ideal candidate will have a strong command of data management and survey administration, with a particular interest in candidates with experience using and creating Qualtrics surveys. In addition to data management, other duties of this position include reviewing scientific and medical education literature, and editing/proofreading manuscripts and grants. We seek a candidate with experience with human subjects and survey administration, as well as team management and teaching skills. Excellent communication skills with PI, collaborators, and other team members are necessary, considering that the position may involve direct contact with neurology trainees or faculty.

Salary Range: $25.75 - $30.71 HourlyQualifications

Required:

Ability to perform duties and tasks independently and with responsibility with minimal supervision.

Ability to take initiative and follow through independently on projects.

Ability to maintain confidentiality with data and research projects.

Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with a variety of individuals including faculty, staff, data and research partners.

Experience in research project coordination (project management). Ability to prioritize group tasks and manage project & teams.

Excellent team skills, interacting well with individuals of diverse backgrounds.

Experience with establishing and maintaining effective and cooperative working relationships with faculty, staff, and research partners, and maintaining a helpful attitude at all times.

Working knowledge and proficient use of software Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Access), Internet Browsers. Ability to learn additional software programs.

Word processing skills appropriate for completing research program documents and correspondence with speed and accuracy.

Prior experience in handling a variety of tasks with a high degree of accuracy (multitasking) and ability to set priorities when confronted with competing requests.

Ability to meet tight deadlines and last minutes requests efficiently and accurately.

Strong problem solving skills.

Flexibility and adaptability in dynamic environment based on changing priorities and frequent interruptions.

Strong English writing skills. Skill in editing for spelling, punctuation, and grammar.

Ability to execute assigned tasks in a timely manner (before the deadline).

Skill in analyzing information, problems, situations, policies or procedures to define the problem, need or objective, identify relevant issues or concerns, formulate alternatives for resolution or new program development, and recommend alternative choices and implications for implementation.

Experience dealing with IRB submissions.

Experience with data analysis and interpretation.

Outstanding writing skills

Experience with Mendeley reference management

Experience with PowerPoint and development of tables and figures

Experience with data collection and/or analyses for research

Preferred:

Bachelor's degree plus 1-3 years of related experience in a health care, research, or educational environment.

Skill in editing for spelling, punctuation, grammar, and use of medical terminology

Skill in typing numerical tables of data using format provided.
