Join the CHLA Respiratory Care Residency Program!

Are you ready to make a difference in the lives of acutely ill and injured children? The CHLA Respiratory Care Residency Program is your gateway to becoming a skilled Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) in a cutting-edge, technologically advanced environment. Our program offers new graduates extensive hands-on experience in neonatal and pediatric care, ensuring a smooth transition from student to professional.

Purpose Statement/Position Summary:

As a Respiratory Care Practitioner Resident, you'll work under close supervision to conduct patient assessments, develop care plans, and provide essential patient care. You'll collaborate with a dedicated healthcare team to deliver top-notch care, all while adhering to our policies and procedures for handling supplies, pharmaceuticals, and equipment.

Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience:

• New Graduates or RCPs with less than 1-year critical care experience.

• Knowledgeable in respiratory care principles and equipment.

• Calm and Composed in crises and emergencies.

• Effective Communicators who can prioritize tasks and interact professionally, both verbally and in writing.

Education/Licensure/Certification:

• Graduate of a CoARC accredited Respiratory Therapy Program.

• RCP license from the State of California.

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification from the NBRC.

• Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications.

• Neonatal Pediatric Specialist certification from the NBRC within 1 year of hire and upon promotion to RCP II.

• Additional competencies may be required based on the work location.

Work Schedule:

• Training: Day shifts.

• Permanent Schedule: Night shifts (7 pm - 7 am), 3 / 12-hour shifts per week with variable days.

Pay Scale Information

$61,984.00-$101,421.00

Final determination of a successful candidate’s starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to education and experience within the job or the industry. The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
