The Laboratory of Immunoregulation in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine seeks a Research Technician I position to join its multi-disciplinary research team. Under direct supervision, the technician will assist in various research projects to understand molecular mechanisms of innate immunity and treatment of infectious diseases, auto-immune disorders, and cancer. The position will require rodent animal handling and occasional flexible work hours to meet the demands of the experimental protocols and processing timelines.
Responsibilities:
Prepares experimental materials using laboratory protocols and safety guidelines
Sets up and operates standard laboratory equipment
Maintains laboratory environment in orderly, operable condition
Handles and disposes of hazardous and non-hazardous materials in accordance with safety protocols
Prepares chemical solutions under the direction of experienced technical staff
Assists in rodent animal handling such as weighing, treatments, and tissue collection and processing
Stocks, maintains and order laboratory supplies as needed
Maintains accurate records of procedures used to conduct basic experiments
Performs routine analysis and provides basic interpretations
Learns basic laboratory safety and under the direction of USC Safety Office complete training for laboratory requirements (such as blood borne pathogens, biosafety, and radiation as needed)
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Hourly range:
The hourly rate range for this position is $20.18 - $26.87. Minimum Education: High school or equivalent, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education Minimum Experience: 6 - 12 months, Combined education/experience as a substitute for minimum experience Minimum Field of Expertise: Ability to follow detailed instructions, oral and written Preferred Qualifications: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in biological sciences or related field Experience with molecular and cell biology laboratory technique and laboratory equipment Excellent organizational skills and time management skills Previous animal handling experience in research-related fields.
