UCLA Health Research Administrator 4/Financial Manager in Los Angeles, California
Description
Under the guidance of the Department Chair, Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Contracts and Grants Supervisor, and other department leaders, you will play a key role in managing the post-award and pre-award administration for both intra- and extramurally funded research projects. Working closely with fellow research administrative staff, you will serve as the primary point of contact for all aspects of post-award and pre-award processes, ensuring seamless support for departmental Principal Investigators (PIs) in administering grants for the life of the award in accordance with funding agency and University policies. Your expertise will be vital in navigating complex grant administration, enhancing the department's success in advancing innovative research initiatives.
Salary: $6,983.33 - $14,950 monthly
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Finance or related field, or equivalent experience/training.
8+ years of extensive research administration experience, or equivalent experience.
1-3 years of complex research administration portfolio, or equivalent experience.
Advanced ability to set priorities and complete ongoing tasks with competing deadlines, with frequent interruptions, to meet programmatic and financial needs.
Experience with all types of award mechanisms, including grants, contracts, subcontracts, and cooperative agreements.
Ability to interpret policy for others.
Full knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulation, Code of Federal Regulations, sponsor-specific policies, intellectual property policy, conflict of interest requirements, publication rights, application of indirect cost rates and other complex concepts in research administration.
Experience with all types of award mechanisms, including grants, contracts, subcontracts, and cooperative agreements.
Ability to perform highly complex financial analysis and customized reporting.
Preferred:
In-depth knowledge of and experience working with a variety of external sponsors, federal and state sponsors, private foundations, industry sponsors, etc.
Exceptional organizational skills to create and maintain administrative and financial files effectively.
Experience preparing, managing, and projecting budgets.
Mathematical skills for the preparation of complex calculations and forecasts and to identify and resolve complicated financial scenarios.
In-depth knowledge of various research administration policies and procedures, and contract and grant funding agency guidelines.
