UCLA Health Per Diem Cardiac Monitor (EKG) Technician - Central Monitoring Unit - Westwood in Los Angeles, California

Description

This position serves primarily as a Monitor Tech to remotely monitoring 5-lead electrocardiogram (EKG) activities on patients from off-site nursing units, under the supervision of charge nurse.

The EKG MT is responsible for continuous monitoring of EKG, pulse oximetry, respiratory rate (RR), and end-tidal CO 2 at the Central Monitor Station. Must be able to recognize EKG components, interpret basic arrhythmias and discern ST-segment changes and QT prolongation. Identify actionable audio and visual alarms. Effectively articulate age-specific changes of EKG, RR, and pulse oximeter readings to RNs and/or physicians in a timely manner. Document and perform hand-off report census reconciliation, patient's EKG activities, and equipment inventory. Maintain the Equipment Malfunction Log. Take proper chain of command to notify malfunctioning equipment.

Salary: $32.41 - $32.41 Hourly

Qualifications

We're seeking a highly-skilled, self-motivated professional with:

  • EKG certificate or certification, highly preferred

  • Associate degree or diploma, preferred

  • Experience in 5-lead EKG monitoring using Phillips® monitor, preferred

  • This position could have the potential to float between the UCLA Health Santa Monica Medical Center and the UCLA Health Ronald Regan Westwood Medical Center
