UCLA Health Nursing Professional Development Specialist - System Programs (Patient Education) in Los Angeles, California

The Nursing Professional

Development Specialist (NPDS) will support and oversee the Patient Education

Program. The NPDS collaborates with patients, physicians, nurses, clinical

units/departments, marketing, translation services, third party vendors, and

others, to ensure all patient-facing communication, education, and consents

align with mandated literacy and readability requirements. The NPDS performs

routine assessments of individual, focus-specific, and system-wide patient

learning needs. The NPDS develops and supports the infrastructure of resources

available to address patient education gaps. The role also supports clinician

(primarily nursing) education, professional/leadership development, policies,

activities, and assessment tools; promotes excellence in patient care, through

skill acquisition in evidence based nursing practice and clinical inquiry;

collaborates with nursing leadership (Unit Director, Clinical Nurse Specialist,

and Nursing Professional Development Specialists) to deliver educational

programs and secure resources based on needs assessments and adult learning

theory; and meets the diverse requirements of the nursing units, patient

populations, regulatory and accreditation and strategic goals of the

organization/health system.

Salary Range: $124,600 to $289,400

Annually (budget = $135,720 - $197,775 depending on paid professional

experience)

Qualifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)

  • Current CA RN license

  • Certified within area of specialty (preferred)

  • MSN in Nursing Education or MSN with post certificate in Nursing Education (required)

  • 3 years of recent acute care experience

*Position can be filled as CNE 3 if candidate is completing educational requirement.
