Overview

Position Statement/Position Summary: The Tsai Lab at CHLA is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic post-doctoral fellow to join our cutting-edge research program. Our lab focuses on the genomics of pediatric brain tumors, utilizing functional genomics approaches to identify and characterize tumor drivers and novel dependencies. Our ultimate goal is to discover better therapeutic strategies for childhood cancers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct independent laboratory research under the guidance of Dr. Tsai.

  • Focus on understanding novel cancer dependencies, including the regulation of cell state and developing new therapeutic approaches to brain tumors.

  • Organize and plan experiments, accurately document methods and results, analyze data, and prepare manuscripts for publication.

  • Attend and present research findings at scientific meetings.

  • Regularly present at lab meetings and engage in one-on-one sessions with the Principal Investigator to discuss research progress and career development.

  • Training to help develop the academic knowledge and research fundamentals, teaching expertise and administrative experience necessary to be an exemplary researcher.

  • Perform laboratory work and conduct research activities independently or in collaboration with the Principal Investigator.

  • Publish results in scientific manuscripts and research publications.

  • Participate in seminars, meetings, trainings and other educational sessions.

Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience: Exposure to and/or experience in research in a healthcare environment preferred.

  • Strong background in genomics and cancer biology.

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Education/Licensure/Certification: MD and/or PhD, or equivalent doctoral degree. *Applicants must have completed their doctoral degree by their anticipated start date.

Pay Scale Information

$29,640.00-$80,196.00

CHLA values the contribution each Team Member brings to our organization. Final determination of a successful candidate’s starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to education and experience within the job or the industry. The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
