What will you be doing:

The Department Computer Technician provides technical and administrative support for computer systems and services. Provides end user support, database maintenance, data collection and integrity, production of standard online and ad-hoc reports, and system troubleshooting. Coordinates and assists with system support activities, such as installation, configuration, and upgrades. Maintains inventory of hardware and software programs and licenses. Responsible for the coordination of escalated computer and technology support and security services with EIS. May perform routine and simple systems and applications programming tasks. May assist with the review, acquisition and implementation of software and hardware. May assist in the maintenance of the department's website.

  • Provides help-desk support by assisting end users with system access, navigation, on-demand reports, and troubleshooting. Educates users and provides instructions on how to access data and run online reports.

  • Coordinates and trouble-shoots hardware and software problems.

  • Maintains department databases. Responsible for data collection from multiple different sources. Responsible for data integrity; enters and audits data for accuracy and reliability. Maintains a tracking system to ensure all data is received, audited and keyed in a timely and accurate manner. May maintain system master files and tables.

  • Produces regular, recurring standard online reports and simple ad-hoc reports using system report-writing tools.

  • Assures department computers are accurately backed up on a daily and periodic basis. Responsible for performance and verification of daily backups for the department’s network, server(s) and other systems.

  • Notifies' management staff immediately of system problems that impact patient care or productivity. Assures that emergency procedures and support contact/help numbers are accurately posted for management and staff.

  • Develops and maintains system documentation for system data updates and procedures for review by technical staff and department manager.

  • Maintains an up-to-date inventory of department hardware and software programs and licenses owned by the department. Tracks information regarding purchase date for software programs, version, and updates. Responsible for maintaining, organizing and safeguarding the software license files for the department.

  • May maintain department’s internet and intranet websites by updating information.

  • May be responsible for or coordinate system security levels/computer access according to CSMC and department policies and procedures. Follows procedures to add, delete or change user’s rights and access.

Qualifications

Experience Requirements:

Two (2) plus years of experience in computer hardware and software troubleshooting and providing solutions to system problems.

Experience with various reporting tools, Crystal preferred.

Experience with PC’s and applications.

Experience installing and configuring computer software and maintenance of installed programs, including Microsoft Office, database maintenance, etc.

Educational Requirements:

High School Diploma/GED.

Associate’s degree in business, computer science, or related area preferred.
