UCLA Health Administrative Assistant IIl - Audiology Clinic in Los Angeles, California

Description

The goal of this position is to facilitate patient access to Audiology and Speech Pathology services. This includes registering, scheduling and encountering patients, obtaining financial clearance, obtaining required authorizations, ensuring accurate documentation of patient benefits, including co-pays, deductibles, out-of-pocket maximums, and covered services, and providing cost estimates as appropriate. The individual in this role will collaborate closely with front/back office staff, clinicians, and insurance companies to ensure seamless coordination between patient care and insurance processes. Other responsibilities will include regularly surveilling the clinician appointments in order to expedite priority patients and working with other departments to coordinate visits for patients receiving multidisciplinary care within the Heath System. This individual will use problem-solving skills to manage challenging situations, patients and appointments both over the phone and in person, utilizing service recovery tools as necessary. When needed, this individual may be required to work in other department locations, including Audiology, Speech Pathology and Rehabilitation Clinics in Westwood and Santa Monica.

Salary range: 28.23-40.44 Hourly

Qualifications

  • Ability to demonstrate positive patient interactions, both in person and over the telephone.

  • Knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Access.

  • Effective organizational and time management skills.

  • Individual must be adaptable to change.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment to accomplish identified goals.

  • Strong communication and problem solving skills.

  • Must be able to multitask in a fast-paced work environment. Ability to prioritize assignments when faced with heavy workload, deadlines, interruptions, and competing requests to complete tasks in a timely manner.

  • Interact diplomatically with a diverse population composed of staff, physicians, administrators, and outside personnel.

  • Recognize and deal appropriately with sensitive and confidential issues.

  • Healthcare experience preferred

  • Experience in billing, patient scheduling, major insurances highly desired
