- Hourly Rate: $23.10 - $24.88 per hour DOE
- Monday through Thursday - 8 hours per day -0.8 FTE
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares and closes dental operatories, sterilizes and disinfects instruments, sets up instrument trays, prepares materials, and assists the dentist during dental procedures.
- Under direction and supervision by dental professional staff, room patients, record medical and dental histories, take vitals, take radiographs, records chief complaints, and assist with dental exams and dental procedures, including but not limited to dental surgery.
- Assists chairside with the dentist at all times throughout the course of the patient's visit and follows correct clinic protocols.
- Completes all charting, which includes progress notes and RX recommendations in the Epic EHR system.
- Provides post-operatory instructions prescribed by the dentist.
- Assists the dentist in the management of medical and dental emergencies.
- Instructs patients in proper oral hygiene and other dental education.
- Performs coronal polish and applies a protective coating of fluoride to teeth as instructed by the dentist.
- Schedules patient appointments and provides fee estimates for proposed treatment plans.
- Restocks operatory supplies.
- Monitors dental supplies and equipment inventory and reports to designated dental staff when re-ordering supplies as needed.
- Conducts weekly cleaning duties as assigned.
- Takes the necessary impressions, pours casts, and prepares appropriate lab slips, and contacts the lab for pickup.
- Maintains and updates current knowledge of dental materials, dental procedures, oral hygiene procedures, and sterilization and disinfectant procedures.
- Follows all safety precautions in accordance with OSHA standards, established clinical protocol, and management direction.
- Follows Washington State's scope of practice for dental assistants.
- Complies with HIPAA privacy and security regulations.
- Supports CFHC strategic, clinical and operational initiatives such as Patient Centered Medical Home.
- Ability and willingness to be cross-trained and function in other support roles in the clinic
- May be required to work nonstandard schedule at any CFHC site as assigned to meet the needs of patients and the communities served by CFHC.
- All employees are expected to practice to the top of their any license or certification.

DESIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Must possess a valid, unrestricted WA Dental Assisting Certification.
BLS/CPR certification is required within 3-6 months of hire.
High school diploma plus successful completion of a minimum of one academic year of post-secondary education in a dental assisting program from an accredited educational institution or equivalent. Associate degree in Dental Assisting and/or certified Dental Assistant preferred.
1-4 years of previous work experience as a dental assistant preferred.
Proficient in dental terminology and dental office procedures.
Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn in-house programs, including EHR system.
Knowledge of dental electronic health records and conventional and digital radiography.
Demon
