Job Overview

Build something big! Komatsu Longview Operations is seeking an experienced and dynamic Manufacturing Manager for our 2nd shift operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing management, a commitment to safety and quality, and the ability to lead and develop a diverse team. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of manufacturing during the 2nd shift, ensuring that production targets are met while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.

Key Job Responsibilities

Safety & Compliance:

  • Ensure that all operations are conducted in compliance with company safety policies and OSHA regulations.

  • Promote a culture of safety through regular training, audits, and proactive risk management.

  • Address and resolve any safety concerns or incidents promptly and effectively.

    Quality Assurance:

  • Maintain high standards of product quality by implementing and enforcing quality control procedures.

  • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to address any quality issues and implement corrective actions as needed.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and reduce defects.

    Leadership & Team Management:

  • Lead and manage a team of production supervisors, skilled tradesmen, and support staff.

  • Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that promotes teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and development opportunities for team members.v

Key Job Responsibilities

Production Management:

  • Oversee all manufacturing activities during the 2nd shift, ensuring that production schedules are met or exceeded.

  • Monitor and manage production metrics, including output, quality, and efficiency.

  • Implement and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent and high-quality production.

    Process Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to optimize manufacturing operations.

  • Utilize Lean Manufacturing and Komatsu Way methodologies to drive efficiency and reduce waste.

  • Lead and participate in cross-functional teams to implement improvement projects.

    Resource Management:

  • Manage staffing levels, equipment, and materials to ensure efficient and uninterrupted production.

  • Coordinate with other shifts and departments to ensure smooth transitions and effective communication.

  • Monitor and control operating costs to meet budgetary goals.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Industrial Management, or a related field preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing management role, with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.

  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and safety standards.

  • Proven leadership and team-building skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff.

  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Proficiency in using manufacturing software and MS Office applications.

    Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.

Additional Information

Working Conditions:

  • This position requires working the 2nd shift, typically from 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM, with flexibility for overtime as needed.
