Minimum Qualifications The qualifications include at least four years investigative experience. Experience investigating the whereabouts of fugitives and safely apprehending them is preferred. Candidates should also have exhibited demonstrated leadership, management, and supervisory potential. This position will require a high degree of organizational and writing skills, as well as must be available to respond immediately to incidents and possibly remain in the area as needed. OSI investigative staff must possess, at a minimum, knowledge of the applicable laws, the highest levels of behavior including personal integrity and ethics; fairness; character; judgment; attitude; and respect for and ability to work with others inside and outside OSI. Appropriate licensure and certifications (including being or becoming a peace officer qualified to carry a firearm) are also required. The ability to travel is also necessary. Duties Description The Office of Special Investigations (OSI) is seeking qualified candidates to be considered for to serve as a Senior Investigator (SI) for OSI’s Fugitive Investigations Division (FID). FID specializes in fugitive apprehensions of releasees and incarcerated individuals, returning out-of-state fugitives to New York, and often assists partnering outside law enforcement agencies with fugitive apprehensions. The SI is the sixth-level leadership and supervisory level role (under the chief, assistant chief, director, deputy chief investigator, and assistant deputy chief investigator) responsible for overseeing activities within FID Unit. The SI will report directly to an Assistant Deputy Chief Investigator in FID. A SI is required to manage a caseload; supervise Investigators; lead small groups on assignments; and assist with the development of strategies, operations, and tactics. This SI will be responsible for field supervision of fugitive teams and fugitive operations, conducting routine investigations and evaluating investigators.
Additional Comments Long Island City. Office assignments are based upon the needs of OSI and the Department. Travel is required.
