HistoWiz Per Diem Histology Technician in Long Island City, New York
HistoWiz is a histology service company in NYC that process animal tissue specimens and digitizes the results for biomedical researchers in research and industry. Our intelligent tissue platform facilitates the collaboration between scientists and clinicians and enables discovery by allowing comparison of cancer histopathology data across different laboratories and hospitals around the world.

We are looking for a Histology Technician with extensive experience in research specimens to join the team, in a full-time or a per diem capacity. Under the general direction and supervision of the Laboratory Manager, the Histology Technician will apply a working knowledge of Histotechnician-related duties and tasks to complete the daily assigned Histology workload.
Main duties:
Perform routine and special histological procedures involving specimen accessioning, grossing, processing, embedding, sectioning, staining (routine and special).
Follow strict SOP and complete required job-related training as necessary.
Evaluate, modify, or develop procedures to meet special requirements of particular research studies.
Maintain accurate records of all specimens worked with.
Documentation of all work progress in our Laboratory Information Systems
Design and recommend processes, systems, and operational changes to increase efficiency and effectiveness
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences or a related subject plus at least two years of technical experience in a histology laboratory
Certification as a Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) is desirable but not required
Experience in preclinical research setting preferred
Flexible work schedule and ability to work a late / weekend shift preferred
Must be detail-oriented, careful and have high integrity and discipline
Excellent communication skills and work well in a team environment
