Job Overview:

The Hyperbaric Technician provides Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy to all patients as prescribed by the Hyperbaric Provider.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent

  • HBO Certification or must sit and successfully pass the National Board exams within 1st year of employment

  • Must operate changer at least 80 hours every 2 years and attend a safety conference every 2 years

  • BLS Certification through the American Heart Association

Preferred:

  • Wound care experience

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Day Shift

  • Per Diem Scheduling

  • Required coverage to other sites

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare patients referred for treatment

  • Administer Hyperbaric treatments in a safe and effective manner

  • Monitor and record patient conditions

  • Recognize changes in patients' condition and intervene appropriately

  • Collaborate with other clinical disciplines in developing plan of care

  • Provide patient/family education and education materials

  • Monitors par level of HBO related product inventory

  • Institutes emergency measures in the unlikely event of an adverse reaction as outlined in established protocols

  • Works in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Safety and Health Act and Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society related to and maintaining all health and safety policies, procedures and protocol

  • Provide hyperbaric chamber operations and maintenance/cleaning as required

  • In the absence of the front desk coordinator, schedules patients for outpatient wound care and HBO therapy, performs patient check-in and registration, as needed

  • Promote individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as a preceptor, mentor and resource to colleagues and staff

  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager
