Cargomatic Operations Manager in Long Beach, California

As an Operations Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operations of our terminal. Your responsibilities will encompass maintaining exceptional relationships with stakeholders, overseeing daily tasks, optimizing service quality, and fostering a collaborative environment for sustained growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate and uphold a positive terminal reputation through consistent delivery of commitments to customers, employees, drivers, and the company.

  • Supervise daily tasks of the team, ensuring adherence to expectations and high-quality performance.

  • Proactively minimize service failures and maintain service quality standards.

  • Ensure accurate and timely internal and external communication by updating systems with precise information.

  • Analyze terminal performance, identify enhancement opportunities, and implement strategic plans in coordination with staff, drivers, and customers.

  • Foster clear communication channels with dispatchers, drivers, customers, and upper management.

  • Address, report, and take appropriate action on issues promptly, aiming for resolution and prevention.

  • Monitor and report terminal performance against revenue, profit, and cost control objectives, proposing corrective measures when needed.

  • Generate regular reports (daily/weekly/monthly/yearly/YTD) covering P&L, customer metrics, cost control, and timeliness.

  • Verify drivers' pay accuracy from dispatchers and ensure driver settlements align with business goals.

  • Strategize and execute driver retention initiatives, analyzing settlement trends and freight distribution equitability.

  • Cultivate a collaborative and communicative environment to nurture employee and driver relationships.

  • Manage customer relationships and devise plans to address challenges effectively.

  • Review daily plans vis-à-vis capacity, identifying actions required for business protection and growth.

  • Provide sensitive and swift responses to service-related matters and customer feedback.

    Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Preferred), 4-year degree is a plus.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Port/Rail Drayage Management and Port Dispatch.

  • Strong understanding of logistics operations, service quality, and cost control.

  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to liaise with diverse stakeholders.

  • Prior experience in driver retention strategies and performance analysis.

  • Proficiency in analytical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making.

  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy in reporting and data management.

  • Flexibility to work on-call and potentially during weekends.

    The expected salary range for this role is $130,000 to $150,000. The actual base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and other factors permitted by law. Decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
