P2S Engineering Senior Project Manager in Long Beach, California

Hybrid Schedule: 3 days In-office / 2 Remote

Salary: $140,000-$180,000

Level: Senior

As a Senior Engineering Project Manager, you will oversee all phases from proposal development through construction completion, with full authority to direct and monitor activities. You will be responsible for planning, scope development, budgeting, scheduling, design quality, client communications, regulatory acceptance, bid support, and construction administration, ensuring projects are completed on time and within scope and budget. Leading and mentoring project teams, you will foster collaboration and clear communication while engaging with stakeholders and sub-consultants to align project goals and provide updates. Additionally, you will manage risks, handle change management, and ensure that deliverables meet quality standards. Your role will also involve preparing reports, overseeing construction documents (drawings and specifications), maintaining project documentation, and optimizing resource use, with a focus on continuous improvement, innovation, and process efficiency. Project Management

  • Leads multidiscipline technical and engineering teams with an understanding of architecture, construction, landscaping, commissioning, and various engineering disciplines, including civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, lighting, fire protection/alarm, and technology/low voltage

  • Lead and manage the planning, design, and execution of large MEP engineering projects, including scope, timelines, resource allocation, and budget

  • Oversee all phases of the project lifecycle, including conceptual design, pre-construction, construction, and close-out

  • Troubleshoots design issues and compliance challenges and resolves disputes

  • Develops innovative solutions to complex problems

  • Prepare and submit detailed drawings, reports, and specifications for large projects (typically $0.5M to $5M in fees) following P2S design quality assurance (DQA) standards

  • Prepares proposals and construction estimates for large and high-profile projects

  • Attend and produce meeting agendas, reports, and punch lists, and attend site visits

  • Lead project meetings, ensuring clear communication between all stakeholders

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing regular updates and addressing concerns

  • Review construction-related documents, including drawings, bids, submittals, RFIs, and contactor change orders

  • Develop business with new and existing clients and enhance the reputation of P2S

  • Provides direction and mentor engineers and staff

  • Assists designers and other engineers with time management and prioritization

  • Collaborate with the Accounting department to prepare monthly invoices Ensure exceptional client satisfaction by delivering timely and effective solutions, addressing client needs proactively, and maintaining open communication channels

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a relevant field

  • 5- 10+ years of direct Project Management experience at an engineering firm that designs buildings and infrastructures required and has repeatedly demonstrated the capacity to manage significant and long-term projects

  • Preferred experience in healthcare and/or laboratory project types including, but not limited to, HCAi/OSHPD design and compliance, projects on institutional campuses, and complex phased project delivery methods

  • Preferred experience managing multi-disciplinary teams across engineering disciplines

  • Supervision: Receives only general administrative direction as to project requirements

  • California Professional Engineering License (preferred); PMP and DBIA (preferred)

  • Skills: Organized, detail-oriented, and a collaborative team player

  • Communication: Ability to be responsive and interface with clients on time-critical tasks

  • Computer skills: Microsoft 365, Bluebeam, familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit
