From your PASSION to ours

TheAssociate Director, Milk Sourcingis responsible for leading commercial procurement negotiations and the fluid dairy supply chain for theLactalis US Yogurt (LUSY) division. This role will support the three Lactalis US Yogurt production facilities in Londonderry, NH, Brattleboro, VT, and Casa Grande, AZ and other third-party co-manufacturing locations. The Associate Director Milk Sourcing, working with senior leadership, will help further evolve and implement our milk sourcing strategy.

The primary responsibilities of this position include commercial management and total cost ownership of Lactalis US Yogurt’s annual purchases. This position will involve travel, approximately 15% to 20% throughout the United States, with limited international travel.

From your EXPERTISE to ours

Key responsibilities for this position include:

Develop and lead multi-year vision and strategy based on the data, insights, and business requirements for LUSY fluid milk:

  • Lead strategic sourcing projects for supplier selection/optimization to implement the vision and strategies.

  • Lead discussions with critical suppliers around long-term objectives and strategies, ongoing market trends, corporate social responsibility initiatives, and potential investment decisions.

  • Actively understand organic and conventional milk dynamics (current market, pricing, cost drivers, industry, and supplier variables) through trade groups, publications, etc., and communicate changes to the applicable business partner.

  • Actively seek out, solicit and negotiate contracts and agreements with cooperatives and other organizations.

  • Establish and maintain contacts throughout the dairy industry, particularly relating to procurement, sustainability, and market intelligence and analytics.

  • Perform market and industry analysis including transportation research and review, and supplier segmentation.

  • Collaborate with Supply Chain and Manufacturing to develop a medium to long-term forecast for milk demand, including: capacity analysis and planning, milk type optimization, and by-products outlet development.

  • Establish and define KPIs for cost savings and/or income opportunities and operational efficiencies.

  • Support innovation projects as required both internally and at co-manufacturers.

Manage commercial milk relationships:

  • Handle supplier relationships and conduct supplier business reviews, including being the primary point of contact for performance and risk issues including service and cost.

  • Support a systemic balancing plan for milk including both inbound and outbound bulk dairy, supporting daily and weekly scheduling, and conducting weekly and monthly reviews.

  • Handle total cost ownership and collaborate with Finance to support fiscal year budget, monthly forecast process and actuals analysis.

  • Ensure suppliers are working collaboratively to deliver animal welfare and carbon reduction commitments.

  • Collaborate with Plant and Corporate Quality to ensure food safety and milk quality objectives are achieved.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualified applicants will contribute the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a college or university program in related field of study

  • Seven to ten years related experience; or equivalent education and experience

  • Strong skills in negotiation

  • Familiarity with raw material procurement and ideally with Milk management function in major dairy/food organization

  • Proficiency in supplier relationship management

  • Ability to lead the planning and forecasting process for milk, including financial knowledge and abilities (attention to detail, analytical skills)
