Overview Utah State University's Division of Student Affairs is hiring a full-time CARE Manager in the Connect Assist Refer Empower (CARE) Office at the Logan Campus.

CARE Managers are non-clinical higher education case managers who work with the Connect Assist Refer Empower (CARE) Team and Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) to support students and maintain a safe campus community.

CARE Managers provide direct support for students experiencing significant difficulties which have affected their well-being and/or ability to successfully function at the University. The CARE Manager assists students in navigating the Utah State University systems, resources, and policies. CARE Managers meet with students to provide one-on-one support, assess resource needs, asses for risk to themselves or others, and connect them with resources (on-campus or in the community).

The CARE Manager reports to the Assistant Director of Student Conduct and Community Standards (Chair of the CARE Team). Please note: This is a non-clinical position and licensure is not required. However, experience in mental health counseling or social work is strongly preferred and our office will support employees seeking licensure.

Responsibilities

  • Assess students for resource needs, identify barriers preventing students from accessing necessary resources, facilitate student access to support services and monitor as necessary to ensure resource needs are met.
  • Assess students for risk to themselves or others; formulate and implement intervention plans to mitigate risk, enhance student success, and maintain safety of the University community
  • Collect facts pertaining to students of concern; document in a clear, complete, concise and timely manner; and maintain accurate case records.
  • Build and maintain positive collaborative relationships with University staff and outside agencies to provide care coordination and support through advocacy and referrals, maintain updated knowledge of resources and referral processes.
  • Represent the CARE Office and CARE Team/BIT through outreach presentations, training sessions, or other university functions with the goal of educating and empowering our campus community to effectively support students of concern.
  • Participate in applicable student support and coordination meetings with campus partners, including Connect, Assist, Refer, Empower (CARE) meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a related field (e.g., Social Work, Higher Education Administration, Counseling, Communication, etc.), OR a Bachelor's degree in a related field plus two years of related experience in mental health case management (e.g., referrals, suicide risk assessment, documentation and active follow-up, etc.)
