Manually plant, cultivate, care for, and harvest grapes. Use hand tools, such as, but not limited to: trowels, pick irons, hammers, pry bars, wire tighteners, shovels, pickaxes, tampers, pruning shears, loppers, and picking shears. Duties include tiling soil, spreading fertilizer, planting, translating, weeding, pruning, thinning crops, moving catch wires, hedging, installation and removal of bird/animal deterrents such a netting, seeding cover crops, applying mulch/compost, leaf removal, applying fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides, operation of power equipment such as chain saws, trimmers, hedgers, power washers, operation and maintenance of tractors and tractor pulling equipment used in day to day vineyard operation, picking, sorting, loading harvested product, run wire through newly established vineyards for the installation of trellises to support vines, maintain fences, machinery, equipment, buildings, landscaping, drainage systems and ditches, irrigation systems, hand harvest and load harvested fruit. Workers are expected to work at least the number of hours and days specified in this order. Depending on weather, crop, or other conditions, workers may be asked, but not required to work up to 10 hours per day, 7 days per week including Sunday and the Sabbath. The employer will furnish the worker all tools and equipment needed to complete the assigned tasks and duties at no cost to the worker. The worker must report to work wearing suitable clothing for the tasks and duties assigned as well as for current and anticipated weather conditions. Field temperatures can range from below 0 (F) to above 90(F) with the possibility of sun, clouds, wind, rain, sleet, freezing rain, and snow. Only workers meeting all qualifications on the job order should be referred by the Job Service Office. Interested candidates must contact their local employment office to receive a copy of the job order (ETA 790/790A) and applicable attachments.
