If you're over 55 and currently between jobs, the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) offered by AARP Foundation can help you learn new skills while giving back to your community. Here's how it works:
Paid Training Assignments: SCSEP matches eligible jobseekers with local nonprofits and government agencies (such as day care centers, senior centers, schools, and hospitals) for paid training assignments in multiple locations.
Benefits:
Gain work experience that you can add to your résumé.
Receive on-the-job training in new computer or vocational skills.
Get professional job placement assistance to find full-time or part-time employment.
Work an average of 20 hours per week.
Eligibility: To apply for a training assignment, you must be age 55 or older, unemployed, and living on a limited income.
Positions include but are not limited to: Administrative-Clerical. Custodian-Building Maintenance. Food Service. Customer Service Representative.
There are some important qualifications that you must meet. Please do not respond to this ad unless you are:
55 years of age or older, meet income guidelines and must be UNEMPLOYED and MUST LIVE in one of the following counties: YOU MUST BE A RESIDENT OF ONE OF THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES TO BE ELIGIBLE Schuylkill, Bradford, Columbia, Lackawanna, Monroe, Montour, Pike, Wayne.
